1 **So, this page is under update** - after I started using Home Assistant in 2019 after a short encounter with [[openHAB>>Main.information-technology.openhab]]. Home Assistant is python/yaml based and quite nerdy to setup - althhough the improvements over 6 years of usage has been enourmous - its still not for everyone; look at Homey for a simpler solution.

3 Since the simple start with a few devices and a lot of yaml file editing, todays intallation is 80% home covering and mostly its done bu GUI; the latter being thanks to Nabu Casa.
4
5 I do recommend supporting [[Nabu Casa>>https://www.nabucasa.com/]], as the product Home Assistent if completely free, Nabu Casa does a lot of the development and maintainene - appreciate and reward that, dont be a freeloader!

9 I started Home Assistant on a native version, and the Python version aspect was tiredsome always !! Today I am not (on purpose) on HAOS, but on a Docker instance with Home Assitant Core supported by a Node-RED docker instance.

11 I like the full control over all dockers and not a solution where i am partly blinded.

34 Home Assistant can be executed on several types of hardware (Laptop, NAS', Reapbeery PIs) and methods (Native, Docker, HASS Image), I do prefer Docker:
